Author Nina Planck gives self-healthers yet another way to bring the works of Dr. Weston Price, Dr. Royal Lee, and Sally Fallon into their kitchen and their body. Thoroughly researched and passionately written, Real Food steps to the plate to defend traditional foods such as beef and butter as health promoting and exposes toxic industrial “foods” such as vegetable oils and high-fructose corn syrup as the poisons they are. This is not a cookbook but rather a book that realigns your relationship with food and inspires you to cook. Even readers who already know the difference between real food and unreal food will find crucial information and much inspiration here.
From Amazon Customer Reviews:
“Superbly written and loaded full of statistics and studies for back up when you get into a debate with your neighbor about whether or not the whole farm fresh egg is good for you… Or just the egg white. (Eat it all!) I loved this book. Our family will forever be grateful.”

“Ms. Planck’s writing style is very easy on tired brains. I’ve picked up I-don’t-know-how-many books on nutrition, read a few chapters, and put them down because they didn’t keep my attention. I found I was looking forward to learning more about such fascinating topics as milk, meat, and minerals after a long day and was bummed when I was finished. I especially appreciated the section on milk. I always thought milk was milk but I was wrong. To sum it up, I now eat as much grass-fed food as is possible (not very hard in CA), make my own ice cream with raw milk, and L.O.V.E. that I get to eat real, honest to goodness butter (grass fed, of course)! I haven’t gained weight, have a lot more energy, and noticed that I am not as crabby or irritated as I once was. She lists all sources/brands/websites in the back. No more corn oil for me!”

“I enjoyed reading this book very much. I found it easy to read as Nina provides an interesting story of her life experiences from farmer to urbanized city life and eventually back to the country side. She takes the time to explain the dangers of our modern industrialized foods and gives the readers a sense of how nourishing real food can be.”

“This was an excellent book. I was first led around to traditional eating by Michael Pollan and the Weston A. Price Foundation. As I continued to read and become informed, this title popped up. The author really gives personal references and has lots of statistics to back up her arguments. I have recommended this book to many friends and family as I encourage them to eat real eggs (not Egg Beaters), real butter (there’s nothing smart about Smart Balance!) and so on.”

“I thought I knew all about nutrition but this really makes sense! Lots of new information and ways to look at food, and it reconfirms things I already felt about our diet here. I love this book. It is my new text book on health and nutrition.”
