Merch Lovers Assemble

I am a lover of all kinds of merch. I hunt down postcards during vacations to big cities or little beaches. I adore keychains from lonely gas stations and crowded amusement parks. I will never pass on hoodies from rock shows or caps from baseball games. I love nerdy merch from museums and seminars as much as I do trinkets from street fairs and airports.

Even the word is cool. Merch.

To my delight, we have merch at SRP. (However, we are calling it “Selene River Press Merchandise,” which doesn’t quite capture the spirit of merch. I will try using my extensive pull here at the office to get this changed to SRP Merch, asap.)

I have some SRP merch, of course. This organic cotton tote bag is all mine, for one. I always go for totes, and I’ve collected some pretty special ones. A minimalistic tote from Helsinki, a tote with kitty-cats from Tokyo, a Dr. Simi pharmacy tote from Mexico City. But I am not lying when I say this crazy little SRP tote is the very best totiest tote to have ever toted. This guy is roomier than it should be and it’s so high-quality that you’d think it was made back in the nineties.

I also own a unisex crewneck sweatshirt similar to this one from SRP. Somehow I ordered the 2XL, which was a bit too large. However, this mistake made the past few winters the coziest, cuddliest, and warmest winters of my life. It’s heavy in a satisfying way and the inside is as soft as a baby lamb. So give it a shot and size up until you can fit two of you inside it.

I also used to own this ceramic mug, but I broke it as carelessly as I break hearts. Seriously, every mug in my cabinet is destined for this fate. They slip out of my fingers and leap out of my hands. Yet in the days we shared together, I loved this one in particular for its substantial, weighty quality. Next time maybe I’ll just chip away at this enamel mug instead.

When I’m ready to add to my stockpile of SRP Merch, the very first thing I get will be this handsome Selene River Press book bag. Just look at it! A covered cardboard insert for stability. Front pockets for

your shopping lists and coupons and keys. Huge gussets for even more space. Large dual handles. It’s like having a husband who builds furniture and carries your purse. And it’s ten bucks!

I also want this SRP canvas snack bag with strap. Mysteriously priced at $11 (and 2 cents), it’s so dang cute I’d use it not just for snacks but also for treasures.

I’ll round out my list with something for all the good four-legged boys and girls out there. If the universe was kind enough to give us dogs, we can surely give our dogs a not-silly-at-all pet bandana. Or even their very own (and also not-silly-at-all) pet hoodie? It’s available from XXS up to L, so no matter how big or small, they’ll all stay warm.

And if you happen to own a dog who fits into the most-definitely-not-silly-at-all XXS doggie hoodie, the world demands a photo in the comments.
