Lighten Up! Spring Has Sprung

The spring equinox has arrived! There’s something about the newness of all-things-spring that makes me want to ditch old habits that might be holding me back.

I’m compelled with the overwhelming urge to do things like:

  • Declutter our living space. Winter turns us into semi-hoarders, but something happens when I open the windows and let the fresh air in—it’s time for more open spaces. When I start loading things up for the next donation drop, nothing is sacred (except for my kids).
  • Free up our calendar. Spring is the perfect time to do whatever spontaneous activities that strike our fancy. And it’s a whole lotta fun to say yes when friends invite us on a spur-of-the-moment hike.
  • Eat raw salads. Winter finds me eating more cooked greens in soups and the like, but the appeal of cool, crunchy veggies comes back with vigor this time of year.
  • Drink lemon water. While I enjoy this refreshing drink occasionally throughout the year, when spring comes around I buy lemons in bulk and have a pitcher of lemon water on the counter at all times. The list of benefits associated with drinking lemon water is long and impressive, to say the least. It’s also an incredibly easy habit to make a part of your daily routine.

Yup, this time of year I always like to lighten things up, both inside and out. I love learning new, simple ideas about how others do the same. How do you rejuvenate yourself and your life in the spring?
