Dr. Dority on the 33 Royal Principles of Health:
#19. Organic Matter

Welcome to “The Royal Principles of Health,” written by Dr. Michael Dority and presented by Selene River Press.
This fascinating series is based on the 33 principles of chiropractic identified by R.W. Stephenson, DC, PhC, in his
1927 classic Chiropractic Textbook. Dr. Dority calls these the “Royal Principles of Health” and invites you to learn
how these foundational tenets illustrate the forces of universal intelligence that guide and determine our existence.

Connected to the Source

Royal Principle #19 states: “The material of the body of a ‘living thing’ is organized matter.”

The entire concept of a “life-giving force” is just amazing. Created in the brain and traveling to and fro through the nervous system, this is the force that leads the body—our entire survival is totally dependent on this reservoir of nerve energy. We are miracles to the max! We are “organized matter.” When our organized matter becomes disorganized, or begins to break down, we develop symptoms that must be labeled with a diagnostic code for the sickness or disease in whatever tissue is affected. (Or is it a deficiency of a drug?)

Now, you cannot give away what you do not have. Recall the story of the branch that cannot bear fruit by itself. In order to produce fruit, the branch must stay connected to the tree. Our body tissue—every cell—needs to be connected to the “brain tree” of the nervous system so that all of our “branches” (our tissues and organs) can produce healthy fruit. The tree itself is rooted in the soil, which connects and nourishes it with the source of “nutritional life.” The soil makes the tree, and the tree makes the fruit!

Dirt is called “humus,” which is where we get the word human. For the body to produce healthy “fruit” (the cells, tissues, organs, and systems of a living body), it must be connected to healthy soil. This is paramount. We are connected to the soil our food is grown in. Teeming with microbial life, the soil makes the food, and the food in turn makes us. All of these mechanisms are regulated through the nervous system, which shows us the intelligent design of our creator.

Learning about the wonders of the causes of life and health brings us joy and the ability to enjoy our lives more fully. What would you think if you saw a full-grown man sitting at a little desk in a first grade classroom? Would it not be kind of strange? Perhaps, but we are all in some way still learning the principle causes of health. Arches, the Greek word for “principle,” describes that which is original, early, or from the beginning, providing support and stability. From the womb, our lives are totally dependent upon the life force, the nutritional supply given to our body in the womb. These are the themelios, Greek for foundation stones, meaning a foundation that cannot be easily moved. It is solid and can endure the test of time.

We must become serious about the health of the body—our masterpiece—by building on the strong foundation stones of health. These true principles of health, when applied from preconception to maturity, create healthy “humus” beings. Let us all pass first grade health at the top of our class.

Plant your roots in the great and magnificent humus of health with chiropractic adjustments to the spine to ensure proper nerve communication from the brain to the body and back to the brain. This is vital for all of the functions of the human body to work properly. Nerve communication is most essential to utilize the foods we eat and the whole food nutritional supplements we take in. After all, you cannot consciously tell your body to digest, absorb, and prioritize various vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, and protomorphogens. There are laws that govern the body’s ability to perform these functions. This is the law of innate wisdom manifesting itself. Laws of logic are universal and govern all correct reasoning. Universal laws apply everywhere in the universe, as seen in the law of gravitational force. And, like gravity, the law of healing is always in effect—unless you are dead.

An ulcer, a broken bone, or very low blood pressure in a dead man will not normalize and become asymptomatic with an adjustment, or drugs, or surgery. When you are dead, the life force no longer flows down from above, inside and out within the body. Laws of logic are invariant, meaning they stay the same and never change. A cut on the finger of a living person will heal. A cut on the finger of a dead man will not heal. Laws of logic are abstract. This means they exist in the mind. For example, we know gravity exists by its effects, yet we cannot see it. We know that healing exists, but even though an X-ray can show us a broken bone mending, we cannot see the healing life force in and of itself, moving over, in, and through the fracture site.

In our natural view of humus and/or human health, these laws of healing are justified. We have valid reasons to believe in the nature and characteristics of the causes of health through the natural laws we are blessed with. The natural laws of health in the body is expressed through the nervous system. Encased in our spine, our nervous system conveys the powerful, invisible life force to all cells, giving to us the expression of the healthy body we are designed to be.

“The material of the body of a ‘living thing’ is organized matter.” This is the basis for our chiropractic philosophy of natural health. It is universal in all human (humus) beings. We are innately aware of this “living thing” called matter (the body). We are supplied with all the innate intelligence we need to maintain life. Our health is the expression of innate intelligence over and through our body.

In all of living creation an innate intelligence directs and guides life on its path to creating and maintaining health. D.D. Palmer and his son B.J. Palmer researched, developed, and taught these living principles of innate intelligence to all chiropractic students at the Palmer College of Chiropractic. Guided by this knowledge of life principles, we become the beneficiaries of greater health.

Dr. Royal Lee researched, developed, and taught the living principles of innate wisdom contained in the soil and absorbed into plants. This is why he formulated Standard Process whole food supplements. With the knowledge he so passionately shared with us, we are all beneficiaries of greater health.

Some things to think about:

  1. What we don’t know can literally kill us.
  2. The life force does not visit your body—it lives in your body.
  3. Life force is like the force of a magnet attracted to metal: we see the result yet see not the force.

“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day.”
